New Haven Reads Charity Makes a Difference for Literacy

New Haven Reads is a New Haven, Connecticut based non-for-profit that has been in operation since 1998.

Their main goal is to get people, especially children, reading.  They have many programs like a book bank where free books are given, tutoring and literacy programs, to name a few.

They also have receptacle stands throughout New Haven where you can find free books.

Whenever my kids and I go to East Rock park in New Haven we get very excited when we see one of New Haven Read’s boxes.

New Haven Reads gets its books from donors, libraries, etc.  They are always happy to receive book donations.

Reading is a big part of our family life.  Michael and I are readers and we are trying to pass our passion for reading to our kids.

“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.”  (Sir Richard Steele)

“Reading is a basic tool in the living of a good life.” (Mortimer J. Adler)

Have a great day!
